Woman Crush of the Week: Coach Emmah

This week we get up close and personal with author and life coach Emmah who shares her journey, and also has some words of motivation to young people. “Everyone needs a life coach,” she says.

Can you tell us who Coach Emmah is: My name is Edith Nyaradzai Emmah Kasukuwere. Born on the 18th of April 1996 and the second child in a family of three. I’m a Rehabilitation Technician, Counselor, Life Coach, Mentor, Blogger and Author. All these are Certified professions. I am also currently studying to be a Master Certified Coach.I work at Jairos Jiri Vocational Training Centre as a Rehabilitation Technician and Counselor. I am also the founder and CEO of Coach Emmah Incorporation, a company which aims at providing Coaching, Mentorship and Rehabilitation services for youths and persons with disabilities with the desire to impact lives and ensure change.

Can you tell us about your coaching journey and why you chose to take that career path: I was in the process of fine tuning my writing in 2020 when I first saw the International Coaching and Mentoring Foundation advert and I wanted to join but by then I did not have the money. So I forgot about the Coaching thing. Early 2021 the Grandmaster and founder reached out to me through one of my social media posts and he said we would like you to join the team. At first I was hesitant but I chose to join the team anyway. As someone who loves to understand people holistically I found Coaching to be interesting and being part of the team also changed me as a person. By then I had a lot of dilemmas but this gave me direction.

Coach Emmah

Who is your target audience in your coaching: Youths: 15-40 years and Persons with Disabilities.

I understand you are also an author, can you tell us a bit about that: I have always been fond of writing and my school records show that I always took the languages prize even though I then did Sciences. However the writer in me never faded and in 2020 I decided to put it to life. So far I have released 5 books which were all released on the 12th of March 2022.

What’s the relationship/link between being an author and life coach (is there a relationship and how do you navigate through the two): So my five books speak to the person as a whole specifically in areas to do with Spirituality, Business, Relationships, Family, Career Guidance and these are the main niches I specialise on in my Coaching. Coaching is guidance to provide a lasting solutions and you find Books like Mindset being a Coaching tool or guide in writing one’s Success story. Coaching is relatable and all the 5 books have relatable stories that affect the youths on a daily basis.

In Zimbabwe do people welcome and actually seek life coaching services (especially young people): I can safely say with the right awareness they do. However in the City of Bulawayo it seems to be something new and I am working hard together with other coaches to make sure that Coaching is embraced and lives are changed one person at a time.

Why is it important for people to get life coaching/ mentorship: Many times we have ideas of how we want our lives to go, what we want to achieve or what we wish to change. However it is hard to be committed and consistent in doing this. However a life coach or life coaching services will help with guidance on how to go about life and make sound decisions for the future.

What drives you: I am the first motivation I have, the desire to impact lives and see change one person at a time.

What scares you the most: not producing effective results at the end of the day.

Who inspires you: My parents, my sister Ethel Kasukuwere, my mentors Grandmaster Coach B Duri, Coach Mama Lyn, Dr Philip Chidavaenzi and Audrey N Chirenje. I’m also inspired by the people I work with daily at Jairos Jiri Vocational Training Centre and seeing their lives change with each engagement.

I see you are a woman who is doing great in your career, in light of the Women’s History month and women’s day what biases would like to see being broken in your field of expertise: The bias that women cannot engage in other niches like the Business one, the idea that women are weak and that we cannot help make a difference.

Any advice to young people: We are the future and we can only make a difference if we work together. A changed world is possible only if we are willing to be part of the change. We have to take our lives seriously and see that our set goals are achieved. Everyone needs a Life Coach.
