As Zimbabwe joins the rest of the world in commemorating World Aids Day, health authorities in the Midlands say erratic test kit supply has hampered Anti-Retroviral Treatment programmes.
Speaking at a meeting recently, Provincial Epidemiological Disease Control Director Dr Reginald Mhene said the HIV testing programme has been slowed down by issues relating to the supply of critical test kits.
As a result, the Province missed its target by more than 15%, Dr Mhene said has tested 74 per cent of people out of a target of 90 per cent.
The world commemorates World AIDS Day on December 1 every year. In addition to paying homage to AIDS patients, it is held to demonstrate support for those who are HIV-positive.
