Women’s Weekly Journal is an online magazine that seeks to break the gender barriers facing women in marginalised mining communities. Being located in Zvishavane and Mberengwa, which are mining areas, women are facing many challenges like exclusion in decision making processes, unfair distribution of mineral wealth, Gender Based Violence amongst others, hence we seek to create a dialogue around these issues.
We also realised the gap in representation of women in mining areas as such we aim to give a safe space for women in marginalized rural mining communities so they can talk about issues affecting them, to ensure that men and women have equal access to socio-economic and political opportunities and To bridge the gap between women and the status quo, CSOs and other organizations that may want to assist them. Our primary target audience is women and we always segment them into girls, young women, women in mining, women with disabilities, the elderly etc so as to meet their diverse needs.
We have categories which include news and current affairs, business, career, beauty and lifestyle, health and well being, religion. This is to try and reach out to every woman and serve their different interests.
