In a generous initiative aimed at enhancing educational resources, the Zimbabwe National Water Authority (ZINWA) has donated 150 textbooks to Dove Secondary School, a satellite school serving the local community. The donation, which focuses on mathematics and science books for Form 3 and Form 4 students, is expected to significantly improve learning outcomes.
The handover ceremony, held on 15 October 2024, was attended by notable figures, including Philemon Gundani, the Provincial Head of Midlands Province and Catchment Manager of Sanyati from ZINWA, who emphasized the importance of education in fostering a knowledgeable and skilled future workforce.
“Investing in education is investing in our future. These textbooks will empower our students to excel in their studies and contribute positively to society,” Gundani stated.
Miss Bhebhe, the District Schools Inspector, expressed her gratitude to ZINWA for their support and highlighted the need for continuous investment in educational resources.
“This donation comes at a crucial time when many schools are facing resource shortages. It will undoubtedly aid in the academic development of our students,” she commented.
Alfred Mutabvuri, the School Development Committee (SDC) chairperson, echoed these sentiments, emphasizing the collaborative effort required to support local schools.
“Community involvement is key to improving education. We are grateful to ZINWA for recognizing the needs of our students and stepping up to the plate,” he said.
The event also saw enthusiastic participation from teachers, students, and parents, all of whom celebrated the arrival of the new resources. Students expressed excitement about having access to updated materials that will enhance their understanding of complex subjects.
As the ceremony concluded, the community’s spirit of collaboration and commitment to education was noticeable, signaling a hopeful future for Dove Secondary School and its students. The donation by ZINWA not only provides essential learning tools but also serves as a reminder of the impact that partnerships can have on education in local communities.
